Overview
Clear Invoice is a Chrome extension for creating and exporting business documents. Most document information is stored locally in the browser. Clear Invoice does not sell personal data and does not use document information for personalized advertising.
Document text, customer details, payment details, amounts, uploaded images and filenames are not sent to product analytics.
Information stored locally
The extension may store the following information in Chrome extension storage on the user’s device:
- document drafts and line items;
- business and customer names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers;
- tax, payment and banking details entered into documents;
- logos, signatures and document preferences;
- a reusable business profile;
- a randomly generated analytics installation identifier and temporary session state.
This information remains in browser storage unless a feature described below sends selected information to an external service.
Extension analytics
When analytics is enabled in the distributed extension, Clear Invoice sends pseudonymous product-usage events directly to Google Analytics. These events help measure whether product features work and which workflows are useful.
Events and technical dimensions
Events may describe extension installation and editor opening; selected language, template, document type, color theme and decorative background; export format, document completion state and export outcome; recognition scope, source type, result count and outcome; extension version; a random installation identifier; and a temporary session identifier.
Information excluded from analytics
Analytics does not include document text, business or customer values, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, tax or payment identifiers, prices or amounts, filenames, images, recognition source content or detailed error messages. Analytics requests are marked for non-personalized use. The extension also honors the browser’s Do Not Track setting.
Website analytics
This website loads Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics only after a visitor selects “Allow analytics.” The choice is stored in the browser. Visitors can reopen the choice panel with the “Privacy choices” button in the footer.
Optional document recognition
Recognition is a separate, user-initiated feature. When a user selects an image or text and starts recognition, that selected source and the requested scope—business, customer or line items—are sent over HTTPS to the AI recognition provider configured in the extension build.
The provider returns structured fields for preview. Clear Invoice applies those fields only after the user chooses to apply them. Users should review recognized information before using or exporting a document.
Your choices
- Do not start recognition if you do not want a source sent to the recognition provider.
- Enable Do Not Track in the browser to stop extension analytics supported by this implementation.
- Select “Essential only” in the website banner to prevent website GTM and analytics from loading.
- Use “Privacy choices” in the footer to change the website analytics preference.
- Clear the extension’s storage or uninstall it to remove locally stored drafts, profiles and the analytics installation identifier.
Retention and security
Local information remains until it is replaced, cleared through Chrome, or removed when the extension is uninstalled. Previously collected aggregate analytics records remain subject to the retention setting of the associated Google Analytics property. Recognition-provider retention is controlled by the provider’s applicable terms and configuration.
External requests use HTTPS. No internet transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure, so users should submit only information necessary for their document workflow.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Clear Invoice limits the use of collected data to providing, maintaining and measuring the features described in its public listing and this policy.
